This Album features for the very first time ever, Bill singing some of the earlier songs his cousin Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole had sung. The earlier songs moved with popularity like a tidal wave through the Hawaiian Islands and later reached enormous proportions around the World. Hawaii has never been the same since, nor the world as we know it. Bill's father and IZ's mother were brother and sister. IZ was grandpa's favorite. He would always try and get everyone in trouble so that the rest of the cousins would have to go inside and take a nap while he continued to play outside. He would razz the cousins by running past the bedroom window laughing. It was his way of rubbing it in. What a rascal. Sometimes Grandpa would call all the aunties and uncles together. They would gather on the front porch Bill recalls, and they would sing the old songs, the family songs in old Hawaiian. Bill's mother remembers their voices in unison, harmonizing, lifting up of the spirit. She cannot easily describe it but it was more of a feeling. Something coming up from the ground like an earthy vibration, passing into the air and then fading in the twilight. We hope you will find that same feeling and experience it first hand with "After the Rain".
